Research in 8 Countries

Between August  and December PANAF launched its research phase to provide an overview of Artistic freedom in the eight focus countries. The assessment will be conducted in the 8 countries independently. This assignment is expected to give clear insight on the status of freedom of artistic expression and come up with workable recommendations that will help artists defend their rights to free expression and guide government and other stakeholders in better promoting and protecting them. Among the areas of concentration are an analysis of the current legal frameworks; components for artistic rights, particularly freedom of speech and the limitations imposed on artistic expression, and the identification of any gaps as well as prospective opportunities to strengthen artistic freedom.
